THE JOURNEY OF TEARS

THE JOURNEY OF TEARS

A Poem by EMMIE

Tears travel from the Motherland
Oh Africa, oh Africa
The land from which we came

Tears trickle down
On the red white and blue
And as they fall they morph
Into blood sweat and pain

Tears drop down
On fluffy white fields
And when they hit the surface
They brake into a million voices
Powerful enough to lift mountains
Yet bound by the chains of hate

Tears roll out of women with no choice
And then they grow into children
Bound by the chains of hate
Forced onto the fluffy white fields
With blood sweat and pain
They'll honor the red white and blue
Tears travel from the Mother Land
Oh, Africa oh, blood!

Thank you for reading
Sad and bad things have happened to most lands and people across the world...Just look at Syria and the middle east now. All we can do is pick up the pieces and move on. Valentine

This is a powerful and descriptive tale of what the African Americans went through when they were taken from their homes and became slaves. It was a heartbreaking read, with good word choice such as “chains of hate”. The rhythm was constant and fast, like a song. Thank you for gracing us with this powerful poem.

Raw. Your words hit like a sledgehammer and your pen sheds tears for those who
have hurt for so long...they've forgotten how to mourn. Once again they hit me in
a way that leaves me only able to clench my fist and knod...not out of anger...
but out of the freedom from isolation that comes from someone else who understands
and can put that which cant be described into words.

A powerful and sad poem shared my friend.
"They'll honor the red white and blue
Tears travel from the Mother Land
Oh, Africa oh, blood!"
It is 2016 and we are no better than the past generations. Maybe worst? Thank you for sharing the powerful poetry.
