The War Nobody Knows About

The War Nobody Knows About

A Poem by EMMIE

Her gear is ready
Her guns are steady
Ready to kill
Ready to save
Standing tall
Falling proud
A hero in the light
A slave in the dark
In the dark
Where the silent war trolls
Hush hush no one must know
Drop your panties and lay low
For under the camouflage clothes
And away from the combat boots
There's a flower ready to be torn
Forced open without hesitation
Who listens when she says NO...
NO! NO! NO!
Nobody
She bleeds tears from her eyes
She cries blood from her womb
And all is silent
Who cares?
The fat pocket nobodies
Who call themselves leaders?
She's an object
She must be treated as such
No justice
No peace
No place for a woman
Go back to the kitchen!

This is a tough topic you've covered here. You've done it well. Anytime you can stir images that translate into strong emotional feelings you know you've done a good job. This piece does that.

Thank you =)
I literally felt my heart pounding. What irony and tragedy that one who would sacrifice so much for the well being of others could be subjected to such dehumanization. One who stands up for others having no one to protect them from being treated as an object. This is raw and hard to read at some points, but the pain that causes the reader to feel uncomfortable is just what we need. Sometimes we need a gentle nudge....others we need the s**t shaken out of us. Thank you.

This.

Just.

This.

Very powerful. It's sad that humans lack the capability to see others as individuals, rather than just projections of who they "ought" to be. I've heard this point of view expressed too many times, and not only by (aging, wealthy, Republican) men.

A powerful piece Emmie !
How women are kept down, one has to wonder, why so afraid of women side by side with man? Because women are more powerful than they realize. But leaders sees her possibilities and strives to keep her down..using any tactic they can.. But she is out of the kitchen and does rise inspire of all..
