BELLISSIMA

BELLISSIMA

A Poem by EMMIE

So much color on that little flower
Morning sun rays gently waking its allure
The essence of love
Created by the Almighty
Nature's irresistible aroma
Fresh and joyful colors
Oh, what a sight to see!
That lovely little flower
Just laying there....
                                                                                                                     On a lonely grave

Beautiful! Your talent shows and grows! A bit of history...the practice of putting flowers on graves only goes back as far as the American Civil War when widows and sweethearts of fallen southern soldiers began placing them on the graves of lost husbands and loves. The northerners, noting this beautiful sentiment, took it back home with them after the war and the custom flourished across the country and the world.

Long time no see Emmie :) I don't think there is anything remotely wrong with dark twists...actually I think it's one of the fundamentals of poetry but I don't really know how to explain why...all I know is you caught me off guard with the ending but I was appreciative of it cuz that's simply life...flowers are beautiful but flowers die on a regular basis...such is the balance of life on Earth...this is much more profound than you might think :)
