My Strength

My Strength

A Poem by Rayne

My head held high

These badges worn proud

I stand looking ahead, never back.

I’ll not accept anything less

Then what I know I’m worth.

It’s my values and morals seen from

Inside out as if beacons flashing

Towards those who may come close,

To take at will,

Things they have no idea about.

I draw them like a siren to my heals

Each seeking what cannot be seized.

Bits and pieces of me, may be had

But know this …

The chain holding my heart gains in

Thickness with each false profession of love,

Manipulation and concocted lie,

To ring untrue against the metal, only to

Solidify it into an unbreakable mold;

Ever thickening with each imbecile

Who decides to come along and

Take,

Take,

Take…

Is there one unafraid of truth?

Bring me the ballsy

The courageous

The gallant, daring one who

Has the unshakable faith in the unknown

To walk with his head held high

Ungoverned by friends, family or society.

The one who will go to any length or distance

To achieve whatever may be.

Give me the one with imagination,

Understanding, compassion,

Intellect and self-worth;

This is the one who will smelt my chain

Into oblivion; complete nothingness.

The one I’d walk through battle beside.
