What a Shame

What a Shame

A Poem by Rayne

See that?
You’re the one with the knife,
Cutting tiny slices wherever it pleases;
Wherever it causes the most pain.
Is this your pleasure?
Take the blame!
Stop laying it at another’s feet.
Be a man for once;
Stand up and do the right thing.
Leave if you must!
My love is on its last limb,
Like a fleeting heartbeat
Of one slowly dying.
Go so my wounds may heal!
Take this one decision,
Out of my hands.
I don’t want to make it,
I don’t want to care.
I’ve a soft heart
Poorly disguised, in
A sepulcher of manufactured falseness;
Continue with the knowledge
To collapse of your own demise
Don’t selfishly
Take me there with you

Very intense and well written. I can feel the pain, the shame and the doubt. There is something better but the exhaustion of not getting out of the rut has caused fatigue and almost collapse. Only with cooperation and outside help can what is close by be found. Its right there in front of you but neither can see it. Good writing on the darkness that some times eclipses a potentially wonderful relationship.
