Consort

Consort

A Poem by Rayne

I’m sickened by you.

The embodiment of

Something and

Someone

I never intended

As a companion.

An antagonistic,

Contradictory,

Obtuse counterpart

Of me.

An unabridged

Opposite

Fully capable of

An affaire de Coeur.

Where’s my confidante,

Partner,

Kindred soul?

Is he within this

Lost and imperfect

carapace?

I see the uphill battle

He tends to take.

The stale yeast breath

Spews forth in excuses;

The answers to my ‘whys’.

Undefined reasoning’s

Contribute to my

Propagated confusion.

A transformation

Is coming.

My revolt inevitable

To alleviate the pain.

Anguish, bitterness,

Depression and grief.

I’ll not break my back

For to show you my love.

Soon I will be done

And have the strength

To stand and say,

“Good-bye; just leave”

While I surcease

To even wave.
