The day of black snowA Poem by buterfligirlOne day a girl goes out to find that the snow is coming down blackWinter was always my favorite season Every year I watch from my window Waiting for winter's first snow to fall I waited patiently for days on end Until one day I was finally rewarded
Excited, I leap out of the house And hold out my hands to the snow But as it fell slowly around me I noticed its dirty, blackened color
As it gathered in my hands I began to feel ferocious pain I quickly dropped the snow from my hands though they continued to burn with fiery pain
The snow began to fall more swiftly And everywhere is touched My skin began to fiercely burn Scared, I ran back into my house But the pain was slow to fade away
I don't know why the black snow fell Only that it continued all day And when spring finally returned Every plant was blackened and dead
Though the black snow never fell again And my burns had healed sometime after Winter was no longer my favorite season And snow never again brought joy to me
From then on every year When the weather once again got cold Even if I stayed within my house The scars on my body would begin to hurt Never letting me forget the day of black snow © 2014 buterfligirl |
