The Forgotten FamilyA Poem by Lily M. Noithe2007. Required narrative and rhyming poem. Eh.Once, was a man, with a very happy wife, a week old baby girl; a wonderful life!
But he was in business, and one day, the stress was too much. As that noose tightened, a family portrait, he did clutch.
The wife almost lost it, but for her daughter she would stay. She grieved for him, every minute of the day. Beating down the thoughts, was it her wrong? Had she widowed herself? Without him, she was naught.
The daughter grew up, never knowing that man. She wanted a Daddy, like all the other children She got older, hung out with the wrong clan, things went wrong. She decided she wasn't going to stay long. As she took that knife, she took her life.
The mother, the wife, she found her daughter dead. Stabbed by laying by her bed, was it her fault? No one left, does it matter? After the burial, she could take it no more. She swallowed the pills, she'd make sure she'd die; she swore. She was found on the floor, all was still.
The family was together now; as other people wondered, no note, no parcel, not a thing to endow!
Sixty years gone by, history forgot, the story of how the whole family did die, a thing of the past. It comes to show, only a thing eternal, will last. © 2011 Lily M. Noithe |
