A is for Addiction

A Poem by David
"

This will be one of 26 installments because there are 26 letters in the alphabet... I am sure as I get down to x and z it will get harder but who isnt up for a challenge huh?

"

A is for Addiction

You were my addiction,

I could never get enough,

Every time I saw you,

My body convulsed,

My body purging sweat.

I caressed you,

As if you were a fine gem,

Lifting your arm above your head in sweet seduction,

And a line of your perfume,

Drove me insane,

The scent of flowers burning my nose;

I could not still myself,

I must move,

Never to lose that high I was on,

That one perfection of my life.

To find you had an addiction all your own,

Broke me into pieces,

My heart going up in smoke.

I went into rehab because of you,

Now I live a normal life,

With all the other squares,

I live in a cubicle nine to five,

Every day wishing I could slip up just once,

Yet knowing I will never have another addiction again,

Never to feel that same high,

The one I got from loving you.

I like the extended metaphor... a lot. Coolness.
