Beginnings Are The Most Beautiful Part

A Story by H.W. Mudgett

The relationship was an unusual one. She was terrified, yet intrigued; he was attracted, yet reserved. Circumstance had rendered a Hannibal Lecter-Clarice Starling dynamic; where the latter desired information, and the former required companionship. These obvious pretenses notwithstanding, it was beautiful nonetheless.
She began asking questions that he knew not the answers to, so he began making them up. At first, they always pertained to generalized areas of life. Then of love. And gradually, they became more and more personal. Years of reading and writing in solitude had instilled in him a vocabulary teeming with life, and miraculous verbal agility. As he spoke his words, and as she watched his mouth move, she began to wonder what else he could do with it.
There were far too many ‘what-if’s’, which they were both wise enough to understand were a colossal waste of time. However, those sort of questions became more frequently brought up when they eventually stopped fretting over time wasted, and began constant frivolous conversation. They were in love.

Beautifully written with a poetic flow that makes the prose live.
An exceptional way to spend a few minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning of the story/
