Dreadful Reality Examination Always Morose Scenes

A Poem by H.W. Mudgett

Looming, impending terror
A frightening sense of reality
Inability to stop the circus
So can you not open your eyes?
Or does it send your body into convulsions?
Soaked from cold sweats
With matching horrific screams
Interrupts neighboring slumber
Will you not divulge when they ask
What your eyelids show you at night
The anatomy of a nightmare
