A Poem by Ruminating Archaeologist
"

"I can't see; and behind me all is black...quotes written on boarded up rooms / past and present, presented to me: / act your part well; / dream as if you'll die-" various things.

"
oh, don't you just leave
just walk away.
I can't see, and behind me all is black.
I stare into it but I'm not too scared,
perhaps maybe unnerved.

quotes written on boarded up rooms
past and present, presented to me:
act your part well;
dream as if you'll die-
dream that you die-
dream, as if-

all it is are quotes of James Dean and
old movie beauty queens
all that's there are remnants of those before
in both what's written and in the writing itself

it makes me a little nervous,
that sharp twinge in my chest,
but it hurts a little too good;
it makes me yearn a little more.

maybe I'm just getting in
over my head, walls are caving in,
maybe I'm just getting ahead of things,
but if I'm right it would be an exhilaration

I've told you;
I feel like I'm repeating myself
inside my head:
did it make it any better?
did it make it any easier?
is it stupid of me to laugh
ironically,
because of everything I am and have been (will be)?
