a poem about priorities

Fans flock to the collossal stadium
Buy beers and urgently rush to the precious seats
The players emerge from the hallowed locker room
Their audience roars loudly for the beloved team!
The sacred sport begins
Blue-42! Hustle! Pass! Tackle!
No! The crowd groans their despair
Another chance - Try again!
The game moves forward - downs and scores abound
Cheering, booing, hooting, hissing
The last quarter is nearly over - numbers break even
Teeth set, knuckles white, onlookers anxious in waiting
The choreographed dance is executed on the field
The play, the set, the pass, the catch, the SCORE!
The treasured team wins the trophy!
The fans stamp their feet on the cold metal bleachers
Shrieking, hugging, jumping, hands lifted to the sky in triumph!
We stiffly perch on our wooden pews
Stagnant hands folded in our laps.
