Comfort

Comfort

A Poem by Kaylee Andurs
"

How I picture God.

"

Often when my life seems to be too hard to handle, I sit at the feet of God.
While he waves his hands and directs the universe.
Like a child I watch Him and hold on tightly to the hem of his robe.
My hands wrap lovingly around his calf.
To this spot I go for comfort, for peace or when I want to feel close to Him.
Sometimes I cry and rest my head on His knee.
I know it’s all in my mind. But it’s real to me.
He is very busy and really doesn’t have time for me.
I just want to touch him, to know that He is real.
After a while he touches my head with his hand. No words are said.
Just a simple gesture of tenderness to let me know that He knows I’m there.
I close my eyes and savor the moment.

i go to church and i agree not to be there a disagreement i just think that when people are going through hard times they really need to turn to god instead of doing drugs and alcohol. I turned to god when im not comfortable to talk to my parents i pray every night and think really hard of what he might if he was in the same kind of situation i love poetry but never really thought of my self as a poet i try really hard when honestly when i fail i laugh at my self and people laugh at it to it hurts cuz i showed my mom the summer poem and she said im better at this than stories but its hard for me to think so in depth for poems so yeah.... very nice poem i can really think it through and your passion for god

This is s beautiful and sacred. I do disagree with the concept God is too busy to have time for you. That is what makes him God, he is amazingly multi-faceted and always has time for his children. So, it isn't all in your head, the communion is real, whether or not you are imagining being with him, He is there. And delighted that you come to Him and seek His presence, when so many forget all about Him or do not believe in his existence at all. One small correction-gesture of tenderness.
Love this, really pure and tender.

I was having a depressing day today
and I knew that only God can comfort me

I saw a word and it said

" Those who wait on God shall
mount up on wing's like eagles "
and it encouraged me to be secured in him

Beautifully written!

Kaylee,

I love the honesty in the images you paint with your words. Imagery is vitally important to us 'visual learners'. :)

***Like a child I watch Him and hold on tightly to the hem of his robe.***
I deeply resonate to this line, Kaylee... probably because I really want to know God much more intimately than I do... more like a father, not the stoic, removed, on-looking persona I've always thought and felt him to be.

***He is very busy and really doesn't have time for me.***
This makes me remember a verse that a friend shared with me...Isaiah 41:10
"Don't be afraid, for I am with you.
Don't be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." - New Living Translation

Right/Write on...Kaylee! :)
