Don't Bother Stopping, Theif!A Poem by buddhas-buddhapoemYou crept into my heart Like a thief " In the middle of the night " But you didn’t steal anything. I saw you when I woke up And I let you be. You made yourself comfortable And we talked. I told you stories and secrets And you told me jokes And I made you promise “Please tell me when you leave” Because I knew you would leave You were a thief after all And I needed to make sure I was ready for the fake robbery. But then I blinked Or maybe fell asleep for a few minutes Maybe you got bored of my stories and secrets Maybe you got bored of telling jokes. The next time I looked to you You had disappeared along with everything around me " You had robbed my heart. I should call the police and file a report. But I must confess: I’ve been robbed too many times to have kept anything of value in my heart. © 2013 buddhas-buddha |
