Poor John

Poor John

A Poem by Thomas B. Buckman

His name is John
He was a joker
He liked good scotch
Played some poker

He went all in
When he was all out
Ate all the liver
Got a case of gout

He thought too much
He went too far
Couldn't get out
Of the god damned bar

The tavern was his home
His dwelling of choice
When there he was safe
From his wife's voice

Its not that she nagged
Its not that she was ugly
She had a new baby
And named the b*****d, Chucky

Chucky was his friend
Those bros before hos
Until he met his wife
He showed her what its like

Poor john avoid the house
Your buddy, just got lucky
Your wife is gone, but not for long
You have all the money.
