The numbness

The numbness

A Poem by buckeyebren

The tears fall at times

but not from any

sense of loss

for me

I lost you long ago

I knew it

I felt it

I could tell

That is when it all started

I became your

whipping girl

insomuch

You wanted me gone

and I knew it

you just did not have the nerve

to say goodbye

So you chose to abuse

make it worse every day

to see if I would leave

but little did you know

I have been there before

much worse than you could

ever think of regailing

much worse than you could

with a babe I was carrying

Nothing you can do to me

can hurt me now

Twist me, call me names

take it all, it's no matter

Nothing is felt here

now but shock,

bewilderment

and numbness
