Too far apart for too long

Grandma returns after not seeing her children and grandchildren for 9 months

she wonders "how much bigger will they be?"

will they remember me?

will Lil be happy?

will Lukiee be shy?

will seeing Spud again make me cry

she gets lost, as usual despite her angels

in the city where she lived and loved

so much and for so long

so many places there remind her of 

of who she is here to forget

here is where it all started

she has to turn down a corner

to park and cry

the healing has to start sometime

that sometime is now

even though every corner reminds her of him

the bridge where they used to walk

the house where they lived

like on old college avenue

she can never forget

she finds the house

and sees them

the grin comes to her face

then the tears

she cries the happy tears

and laughs, loves and hugs

all weekend

laughing more than she has 

in all those nine months away

they DID remember her

she DID cry when she saw Spud

everyone was happy

no one was shy

she goes back

every 2 weeks now

or sooner!
