I Don't Believe

I've heard the stories

a virgin birth

He healed the lame and dying

but to me

stories are all they are

same as any disney movie

i don't believe in Jesus

and maybe even God

this Christian face

isn't mine

I simply don't believe

there are too many people

"more holier than thou"

too many wars

and senseless killing

it just doesn't make sense

but I believe in Christmas Spirit

in laughter, care, and love

and so I celebrate Christmas

but not as divine birth

as holiday time

with holiday people

and the simple joy of love

what I hate most

about these beliefs

is not knowing what others will think

my Christian friends

and family

mixed with me

and my new way

I know people will see

I know people will hear

but don't be sad or grieve

please be happy

because I can't find fear

in that which I don't believe
