The Tower

The Tower

A Poem by Brandy Alexander

I lie awake in this tower as it breaks

The cracks reveal the truth.

And as I let the last dream die I look up towards the sky

Watching the light break through

I hear all these things that you say but it’s just a picture that you paint

To hide the fear inside.

You want me to think of the past and if I stay here it could last

A brush stroke away.

And if I just close my eyes I could believe all those lies

I could remain where it’s safe.

But all these things that you say are just a picture that you paint

That can only be a prison for me

And I need to be set free.

Very lovely work.
The aspiration to be free is awesome.

"I hear all these things that you say but it’s just a picture that you paint

{i love this line - very creative expression of emotion}

"I could remain where it’s safe.
But all these things that you say are just a picture that you paint
That can only be a prison for me
And I need to be set free."

{wow--i like the pensive mood of these lines--great poem}
