Chapter 2 - White

My name is Mianthus Tary; people usually just call me Carnation as my name resembles its scientific name Dianthus. Her name is Lotus.  From the point she started playing this online game called “Ancient Legends of the Plants”, I’ve been teaching her this game daily. “What a surprise!” I thought. It’s not quite common for girls to be playing daily, well at least the girls around me don’t.

Every day I would came back home hoping to see her online. She learns so fast that it just feels like she is talented at gaming. Before going to sleep, I will still think, I should start talking to her in real life; it shouldn’t be that hard since I can talk to her finely in the virtual world.

“WHAT SHOULD I SAY?!” I thought of this “loudly” while lying on the table at school. So close, she is just right there, yet why can’t I say anything?! 

“Hey Lotus.” I walk to her table and start talking.

“Ya?” She looks at me with that “confused” look.

“Yesterday was fun huh” I said while my heart beats rapidly.

“Mm Ya.” She replied emotionless.

“So….wanna play today too?” I forcefully think something to say.

“Ok” She replied again emotionless.

“Ummm, Okay~ then….” My minds blank.

“Mm” She knotted her head.

“Bye.”

“Bye.”

“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT CARNATION, THAT WAS SO LAME” I thought to myself while walking back to my seat. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT CARNATION, THAT WAS SO LAME” Suddenly my friend beside me, Charles said to me while patting my back.

“WHAT WHAT WHAT?!” I quickly replied.

“Hey hey hey hey~~Looks like someone found his target”

“WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!” I denied him knowing what he is thinking.

Yes sure I play with Lotus, yes sure I talk to her, but that doesn’t mean I like her or anything, I mean it’s like I never really have a crush or something before.

“You like her don’t you?” A familiar voice comes from behind me.

It’s Lily, Lotus’s best friend.

“Why would you think that I like her?”

“You’re so nervous while talking to her” She looks at me with a smug look that somehow said “I got you!”

 “Oh nah ahhh, I’m nervous while talking to any girls” I still continue to deny it. “Come on guys, Lotus and I are just friends, nothing more and hopefully nothing less.”

A few minutes later*

“And from X you made an equation to solve Y then you could finally……..” The teacher keeps on going with the ‘black magic’ teaching. Unknowingly I started to stare on Lotus, and as always she is there sleeping.

“Oh how cute….”

“WHO’S CUTE?!” Charles shouted while looking to the same direction as me.

“Wait what? I said that out?”
Charles looks at me with a weird face. “So you don’t like her, eh~~~~”

I look to Charles, sigh, look at the homework board, sigh, and the school bell rang and everybody start to walks out. Looking at Lotus and Lily walking together out the class, sigh.

I completely ignore Charles and just walk out the school.

While back home I thought to myself is this real? I started google searching weird stuff like ‘How do I confirm if I’m in love’ or ‘Do I love her?’ I feel stupid. The answer I got is yes, I am in love with her, at least that’s what the internet is saying. I want to talk to her more, I care about her and I just really love to hear her talking about herself.

She is sweet and lovely in a whole new different way, but do I really want to go for her? Is that really what I want? Maybe. I got an invite from her at the game and in the end of the day I just ignore everything and have fun with her.

The second carnation flower has bloom, it’s in the color white, symbolizing Sweet, Lovely and Innocence.Pure Love~
