TalkA Poem by BarbaraCould you tell me something? Something real Or made up; I'm easy to please. Let me just close my eyes And fall asleep to your voice. I'll listen, for awhile.
I love to hear you speak. Let me in on your secrets. Tell me of the times when you were younger. When you hid behind the stump of an old oak And waited to be found. (Or not found). But dreamed Because you were young and you could dream. Make believe wasn't going to disrupt your reality. Disappoint you. Because your dreams were always bigger, better. They were still attainable. Tell me a story. Tell me something. I don't care what. I like to listen. Tell me you are a dog person or a cat person, Tell me your family use to huddle together in bed And drink hot coffee on cold mornings. Tell me about a guy you know Who everyone hated and laughed when they thought be died-- Disappointed when they saw him at church the next Sunday, Not in a casket.
I'll listen, absurb. I'll believe it, even if its lies. I'll know its lies, but I'll believe it anyway. Submarines and UFOs, Thirty cop cars to give you a parking ticket. Ha! Thats a good one. Told you I'd listen. I'm no good at talking. I get all mixed up. My sentences putter out. I Lose steam Somewhere in the middle. So you just tell me something And I'll remember it, And write it down later. © 2008 BarbaraReviews
