Adam & Eve

Adam & Eve

A Poem by E.A. Spain
"

Love poem. A Valentine's Day Gift to My Love.

"

They say the soul can be seen through the eyes.

And maybe each soul is reflected with the stars in the sky.

When my gaze met yours for the first time,

The moment felt so significant to me, like it was meant as a sign.

On that day when Eve came to life,

Adam’s eyes laid upon her and knew she must be his wife.

Their eyes met and their hearts were filled with light.

This must be what they mean by love at first sight.

You are my Adam and I am your Eve.

Naturally we grew acquainted and rapidly began to cleave.

So much so that our love felt all too familiar,

As if we had loved on another plane- something magnificent to consider.

Star-crossed lovers as we meet again,

Somehow I knew we would be more than friends.

God hand-crafted our paths to meet,

And laid us in this garden with fruits ever so sweet.

I wash your back and you’ll wash mine.

You showed me around the Eden and I’ve lost all sense of time.

We partake of the veggies and fruits to their rind,

And we glow in the light because we are divine.

You are my Adam and I - your Eve,

Showing me around so I know truth from make believe.

And God beams down on us from things seen and unseen.

And He urges us to inherit the land like real kings and queens.

In our Eden I’d like to stay,

And spread our love because it was meant this way.

From your rib and God’s hand in clay-

Our love was manifest since that very day.

I read and write poetry intensively and extensively,
and I can say so far this is my favourite love poem on Writers Café.
I will definitely add this gem to my 'Favourites' list in my library to read and meditate upon.
In this poem you've achieved what writers and poets should aspire to do: inspire.

This poem is personal in perspective and still yet universal in appeal.
This is simplicity in depicting complex concepts, and you created a masterpiece.
It is so full of love and truth, and it's divine in quality. I have no doubt that you write straight from the soul with such impeccable intuition and intelligence of the highest level and yet humble and earthly, celebrating love in its dual aspects: divine and physical.

'And maybe each soul is reflected with the stars in the sky.'

I find the above line very interesting because I always, since becoming universally aware through learning and experiential observation, believe that each person, upon birth on Earth, has a star immediately placed up there by The Heavenly Creator to mark our current existence.
Even somewhere in the bible I believe that God promised Abraham that He will multiply his seeds as countless as the grains of sands and the above stars. This means that we are all stars.
And I am convinced that the term 'superstar', as used to designate so-called celebrities, is not a name borne of accident.

Thus, not to go off subject, your poem has a 360 dimension in layers of meaning.

Your rhymes don not seem forced at all, for they are in sync with the concept, content and context.
You've taken a well known-universal subject and well-known names (such as Adam and Eve) and put such a wonderful and refreshing twist to it, yet in a way that's true and personal to you, in such a romantic and inspiring way.

You certainly have been blessed with the gift of words.
Keep writing to be the best of the best, knowing that love and truth are your driving forces.

WELL DONE

Beautifully written!

I was mesmerized by the rhyme, and the genuine meaning.

As far as my opinion on love poems go, I don't typically read them

However, this was absolutely outstanding! I could really feel the love put into this.

Another thing I really enjoyed was how you structured and formatted this piece, it flows very well.
Your word choice is incredible as well.

Its fair for me to say, that with this piece, you are my favorite writer on Writers Cafe. I only have a list of potential favorite writers, but you've definitely caught my eye enough to be the first to be on the favorites list.

As always, keep writing!

I look forward to reading more of your work!

Makes me think of my love, “so much so that our love felt all too familiar, as if we had loved on another plane” this line makes me smile and makes me think of how much I love my Boyfriend.

Powerful and worthwhile words and thoughts. You made the reader believe every word. When we are in the hands of the utopia of love. We want it to last forever. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
