Short dark and mysterious poem

Two moons rising over a darkened field

The energy love brings also has dangers for you to yield…

The rolling fog creeps slowly. Or is it standing still?

As all the people stare in awe at the sky, watching the ominous thrill

The moons are crescent, inching, crimson with glow

The meaning behind the couple, they will never know

As the township, entranced, fall fast asleep...

The grim enigma begins to reap.

I loved the supernatural, haunted, dark feeling of this poem, but something about it tells me there is a non-paranormal explanation for the double moon and the reaping grim enigma. Perhaps it describes a moonlight tryst of two forbidden lovers, out of sight, but reflected spectrally in the rising red moons. Or maybe I'm grasping at straws or waning crescents too enigmatic to comprehend. In any case, this was a beautifully written poem and I always enjoy the dark, paranormally-suggestive imagery. Nicely done!
