Weight

Weight

A Poem by bskiffington

There's a burden that you bare upon your shoulders,
the weight of the world gets heavier as we get older
With more and more responsibility comes more unrest,
more changes in life you're not willing to accept

You feel as though you've wasted all your time
on your broken dreams and hesitant goodbyes
But even though you think that you're too weak,
you have the weight of the world to keep

You know the right course of action you should take
but you're afraid of the choices you have to make
You're trapped inside these four walls that keep you in,
you're stuck, but you're longing to see the light again

And you'll spend all your time looking back on better days
though you know in the end, the present stays the same
And though the weight you hold keeps happiness away,
stuck beneath the rubble of your dreams is where you'll stay
Forever looking back on better days
