Scrubs!

Scrubs!

A Poem by Bryce Simonds

You say it's all over,
You and I.
But I once wished on a four-leaved clover,
That we would never die.

So I turned on that damned TV,
And there it was, our show.
"Scrubs!  Don't you agree?"
"Yes. But that was so long ago"

Elliot was you and J.D. was me.
They were always together,
But not always filled with glee.

When their relationship ends,
They are still friends.
But when we are done,
Sorry, but I'm already on the run.

I have a Scrubs connection with an ex too. Recently bought a few box-sets [tsk tsk].
I'm not keen on this kind of rhyme scheme but you did a great job with it, conveying a story and sense of history, using JD and Elliot as parallels.
A reader with Scrubs knowledge can read a lot into this piece - did our narrator stop liking his friend as soon as she started to like him? Hmm...self-destruction.
Overall, good write.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a review. I'm sorry that my poetry doesn't seem very accessible - you're not stupid, it's probably a flaw in my writing. Hope you come by again soon.

I don't watch scrubs, but this was cute and funny :] Making connections between life and tv is somehting I've never been able to do in my poetry, so kudos to you, my friend. I especially like the last stanza because, although this is about a situation similar to one on tv, it will never be/end out the same way.
