Mistakes

Mistakes

A Poem by Bryce Simonds
"

I was in a writing mood, wasn't meant to be the best.

"

Mistake number one.

She met his friend.

Now is this friend,

A friend or a foe?

We really don't know.

Mistake number two.

He let them continue to talk.

Now who do they talk about?

Him or the friend?

Let's pretend.

Let's pretend,

He takes her from him.

What does he do then you ask?

Well it's quite simple you see,

All he has to do is pay the fee.

And that fee my friend,

Is that of a broken heart.

My worst feeling to experience is anxiety; more specifically, anxiety of possible infidelity in a relationship. I could sense the worry and subtle pain of doubt throughout the poem, especially when the speaker says "let's pretend." This is a difficult situation to find yourself in and even though this poem is simple in form and style, it displays restless emotion pretty easily. :)
