Reaching The Top

Reaching The Top

A Poem by Brynn Anderson
"

Just read it, it should make you think.

"
Why is the mind always in the future not in the present? If it continues to do so how will I know if I succeed, if I always think of succeeding something bigger? Will these thoughts ever leave my mind? People say dream big. But what if your dreams are too big? And you end up not reaching them, but you don't acknowledge the things you already have succeeded? Is that bad?
Maybe in life the small things matter the most. You can't build a bigger wall without having more bricks.
You start small where no one notices you. You might be left out, being pathetic for years. You look up to others. You keep going and later everyone looks up to you while you look up to no one.

Which would feel better? Already being on the top or starting off at the bottom and reaching the top?

This is a very powerful piece. You seem to be questioning us at the same time you're questioning yourself. So many questions and so many things to really think about. It makes you question what you're doing right now. Are you just dreaming about your future, or are you doing things to achieve that goal?

Some constructive feedback:
"...if I always think of succeeding something bigger?" I don't think the word 'succeeding' works in that sentence, maybe find a different word to take its place.
In the second last paragraph you say "look up to" three times not too far apart and it sounds repetitive. Again, maybe find something to put instead of that.

Anywho, I really enjoyed this. Well done and I hope you post more. :)

I'm not cracking on your sectioning but it seems kinda this should be a rant/questionable short...Idk what to call it. lol. It's really good though. My eyes just followed it down the page weird. But you're exactly right. 'why is the mind always in the future not in the present?'. Seems like it's either the past or the future.

I think starting off at the top wouldn't let you dream. Say if you were born in to a family which would pay you into an education worthy of the best in the world allowing you to be the best lawyer/doctor/politician you could imagine then you might not know different. Had you stared off lower you might have learnt about your dreams, dared to imagine a different life as opposed to the one you were born into and less people would judge you for having dreamt.

It has made me think about my dreams and I like how you ended in a question. Thank you
Rebecca
