The Golden Colour

The Golden Colour

A Poem by Bryan Preston
"

A friend of mine challenged meto write a poem on the colour yellow. I chose to write about the sun (it being yellowish!) and it's battle against the clouds.

"

The golden colour, breaking through the dense misty grey

Pushing aside all that steps in it’s path.

Forcing it’s way though the vile dull hues

Whispering a sweet gentle phrase as it goes, shimmering, shining

This was not the ideal situation, it needed a clear run

It wasn’t beneficial for all, but for some it was right.

The naysayers protested that it would not succeed

It was going to try to get through, achieve it’s goal.

The struggle continued, it got beaten back.

Wounded, it made a final push, pushing, attacking.

It burst through, and all was done.

It was over, the yellow had won.

The sun was victorious.
