silenced stars

silenced stars

A Poem by Bryanna

During the latest of nights,

The hours of which one typically sleeps,

She sits awake.

Eyes as wide as the horizon,

And thoughts spinning as fast as Katrina,

The age old battle of wonderment.

Who could she be?

And a "what if" that could never leave her lips.

Spending hours,

Maybe days, weeks?

They all begin to blur.

The only silence she comes to know,

Is that of her voice.

Until finally the storms brew outside instead of in,

She lets the wind escape,

Releasing her thoughts,

To engrave themselves on every ear.

The faces proving how well the words had been hidden.

Locks begin to turn as the truth spills out,

Finally the options are clear.

Determining that the bubble she inhabits,

Is plagued through the brain and not the air,

She plans to set her mind free.

A one way ticket and an unsettling smirk,

She packs for her new adventures.

Images of laughter and quiet minds dance in her thoughts,

Where there once was rubble and endless questions.

The weight off her chest brings a breath of fresh air,

And with it a visionless sleep.

No dire thoughts or bustling minds to contain.

She feels at peace.

And just as she feels the stars are aligning,

The planets begin to crack.

Tears stream and defeat filled monologues haunt the walls.

Her mind begins to panic,

Searching for an answer.

Quick as that Katrina returns for chaos,

Bigger than ever.

The storm attacks her stomach,

 alongside her mind.

The dances of brand new begin to crumble at her touch.

Realizing as her smile lit up,

Those around her faded out.

The worst of nights begin.

Her silent voice rang loud and raspy,

Her mind draining her soul,

The panic of ruining everyone in her path,

And not being capable of stopping.

She searches every corner of herself.

A one way ticket abandoned,

The unsettling smirk gone.

She unpacks her items,

Returning to the bubble.

During the latest of nights,

The hours of which one typically sleeps,

She sits awake.

Eyes as wide as the horizon,

And thoughts spinning as fast as Katrina.

The age old battle of wonderment returns,

A new thought at the centre.

Her stars may be scattered,

And her thoughts still cluttered.

But at least she knows the planets are whole,

And their oceans calm.

This was fantastically detailed, I felt as if your words were bringing me along on this journey. I like your choice to end the poem the same way you started. Your descriptions were brilliant, gave off so much emotion and feelings. Very well written, keep writing!
