As the sun sets

This poem was written just recently while i was spending time with a friend who was spending his last few days in a hospice house.....

 

As the sun started to set
behind the trees that day
she sat contemplating her life
wondering if she had done
things right...

She thought back overthe
years, thinking about where
her life had taken her
had she baan a good person,
a good mother, a good friend?

She had always been there
her familyand her children
opting to ba an at home mother
instead of joining the workforce

She had been a good friend
everyone that knew her knew
that no matter what she was
always just a phone call away
she was always ready to help or listen

She hoped that over the years
she had been a good person
she always helped when asked
and donated her time where
she could.

So as the final rays of the
evening sun faded behind the
trees she was content in
knowing that she had done
herbest to be a good person, mother and friend...

    As the sky faded slowly toblack she took her last breaths
and went home to heaven..
