The Cosmos

The Cosmos

A Poem by Bruna Digregorio

The city gets bright.

Will ivory moon plummet

into frothing sea?

Death is but a path,

stars collapse

universes shrink daily,

the Earth is in the center,

then there are these crystal spheres

the sun

the moon

the planets and finally

the celestial sphere,

where the stars are

and everything has a place.

Sometimes the darkest nights

give rise to the brightest mornings.

The cosmos is also within us,

it will be music to our ears

because it will be

the quiet echo

of that moment

of our creation,

of our observable universe.

Wow, this is the kind of poems that drive me crazy, in a good way eh, this brings a lot of thought to me about the universe.
"universes shrink daily"
This line in particularly reminds of how they say that atoms are like a small version of the stars, and we are a whole universe.

It is beautiful what a thought of a clear night can bring forth from us, isn't it. Such beautiful contemplation of all this is within and outwith our own self. Wonderfully introspective piece. Thanks for sharing.
