I was approached through my website by a lady whose husband is dying to write a poem that she could share with him ... I was deeply touched by her request and wrote this and I thought that I would share it with you ...
The worlds a stage and you have been my leading man for 30 years
No tears right now .. they will be shed when moment’s passing comes..
But celebrate .. our love .. our life .. and two fruits that came from us
A joyous sharing which became them both
Each dawn I sit and wonder at the world .. its beauty and its tragedy ..
A balance here in life of pleasure and some pain ..
But oft remembered happiness prevails and sorrow banished from the frame
Your gentleness and kindness fill my heart .. and wash my soul
For we have known such joy within our time..
Such memories are burnished in my mind .. forever and all time..
No one can take them from me .. and they will sustain
And see me through the darkened clouds ahead ..
My port within the tempest that will rage …..
In time when softer moments bloom .. I shall remember
And when we meet again in future lifetimes..
A little bit of now will still burn brightly .. and remain
This might be your best one yet Phil - it's so beautiful and so sad. To me, the thing that is most difficult in this life is to say goodbye to our loved ones. Extremely tough, really tests our mettle, doesn't it? Outstanding is the only word that I can think of to review your poem. What a precious gift this poem is to the woman and her man. Hey Phil, 'Always Mine' could be the title of your poetry collection, and this piece could be the last one in the book - wouldn't that be appropriate? It Right to my favorites folder, my friend, another heart-felt piece.
It is a very sad job you were asked to do Phil..but you wrote her a wonderful poem..life is so short..if all people would realize this and fill each moment with a loved one as if it were there last..lol and God bless..Valentine

Only you could write such a touching piece in face of a sad situation like this one. I'm not at all surprised she turned to you for this poem, because she knows. Bless you and I'm proud to call you friend. Huggs
Good mood shift here to mild foreboding which shows versatility. But even then you can drill down into the happiness stored up and draw comfort from it. Optimistic and uplifting.
Thank you for sharing this touching and very beautiful "dedication" to your friend's husband. It must have been a blessing for them both, and what a wonderful honour it was for you to be asked to write something for them.
I also wrote a poem once that someone wanted to keep "for their eulogy"....no they weren't dying and in fact quite healthy, but I also was very honoured that she liked it enough to want to do that.
I will also share that one too one day.
That is when being a poet is so satisfying....that we can move people through our words. It makes it all worthwhile.
What a touching poem to give a loved one who after so many years together comes to his end. You didn't dwell on the dying. You spoke of wonderful memories..past..and to come. Beautiful. Rain..
