The Human Psyche

The Human Psyche

A Poem by Phil Sanders
"

The human mind is a fascinating emotive power source ...

"

The depth of the human psyche .. is a wonder to behold..

Creativity .. sensitivity… proclivity to excess…
A complex set of machinations every day …
Should I? ..Shouldn’t I?.. Will I? .. Won’t she ?
A myriad of roads open up to follow .. choices always required …
In settled times .. such easy choices …
But ..when the winds of change blow cold ….
Chaos .. turmoil… angst ….. love .. hate …
All mixed in a pot of emotions ….
Awaiting the decision .. that powerhouse of life..
Causing laughter .. tears .. frustration .. exhilaration..
Who knows where the future will lead us …
What significance the decisions will have..
Across the ocean of hope…
Avoiding the rocks of despair …
Reaching the sea of tranquillity ….
All of us sailing our ships of life …
To where? .. no one knows ….

Ocean, rocks, sea, sailing.........hopefully to a sandy beach with a loved one stroking one's thought tossed brow! Enjoyed this dynamic fusion of emotions with the the decision factory of the mind. Balance of the two the right way right? Enjoyed this.

All of us sailing our ships of life
To where? .. no one knows .What a beautiful way to sum up our lack of direction and the way the mind keeps bobbing up and down in a sea of emotions, I feel pretty much the same now.I hope to reach the sea of tranquility soon and find my radar.

This seems so timely today with all the fearful financial news and so many changes going on in the world. We are all just doing the best we can.

A very good piece of work here - and absolutely right - all the choices we have to make all the time, and who knows REALLY how things will turn out - but it's good to hope for the best and to try and steer ourselves in the right direction -
that part that spoke to me especially

But ..when the winds of change blow cold .Chaos .. turmoil angst .. love .. hate All mixed in a pot of emotions - we are complex creatures, aren't we? Good one Phil!

Ah the human condition.......a variable hunting ground for us greedy poets. I do however admire the positive lilt you give..... a reminder that prose is but a parlay of perspective. Looking forward to reading more from you.

Oh, I truly understand. Beautifully written, Phil. Ahh that life and love could be simple... but then would we savour it so much if it were? Sometimes those challenges make it worth all the effort. Will it, won't it... whatever will be, will be. The Sea of Tranquility... isn't that on the Moon? Love your poem.

I have to say although I don't know the meaning of some of your words, I understand what your poem is saying, I found it to be very profound and deeply evocative causing me to sit and contemplate where my road is taking me as I feel the winds of change are blowing for me and for once it is a poem that I have not shed salty tears over.......yet. Excellent work Phil, different from your usual loving poems but just as good. I enjoyed reading this very much.
