Free as a Bird

Free as a Bird

A Poem by Phil Sanders
"

Thoughts .....

"

Spirit free …. flying on the wind
Apart from the world …. feeling free
An endless space stretching beyond the moon
A peaceful, gentle mind
Away from fears, worries and hurt
A limbo of gentle respite
A need to shout with expectant ecstasy
… at the delights of unshackled indifference
It will be pulled back….
Within the tortuous wheel of life
But enjoy … delight in the space and freedom
And return …. refreshed and enhanced
To understand… sympathise and to be ….
… to be yourself …….

I am interested that you say these are 'thoughts'. The clarity of them makes me want to float away with your images forever. I realise, as you do, this is not possible and that I need to be brought back to the living world where I can reflect on what you have said - and, yes, carry on living and being myself.
Nice words.

It is so hard to be yourself at times simply because of the confines of general living. You poem tells me that even when the world holds you back and presses you down, the spirit, the soul can take flight and be refreshed.

We all have the need to be free to be ourselves and those who haven't experienced this freedom of self can now know that there is more than one way for the freedom and self expression to be experienced.

A good write here.

This makes me glad to be whom I am, I am not always pleasant- not always pretty and nice but I am always true to my beliefs and to myself, as complicated as I am. LOL This are wonderful thoughts my friend!

An old concept refreshed by the thoughts of a poet. As always, your messages are well developed and the imagery is well defined. The theme is nothing but is doesn't really matter. What matters more is the fact that this came from your heart. As I read it, I doubt I'm not wrong. wonderful work, Phil. Thanks for sharing!

How I wish I could soar as you have described so eloquently...to release all that weighs one down...peaceful...free. Sounds heavenly! Beautiful!

Ahhh... the power of freedom.
To be yourself.
Just to... be.
This is wonderful. I love it.
It wraps around you and keeps you warm all the way down to your toes.
