Hopes and Dreams

Hopes and Dreams

A Poem by Phil Sanders
"

Wishes for the future .....

"

If we don’t dream then how will we….

Cross the world and feel so free
Within our mind the swell and storm
Of yearned for wishes now does form
To far flung places in the sun
To projects that we wish we’d done
For time we’ll spend so carefully
With all those things we wish to see
To memories …. we want one day
To people ….who we want to say…
I’m glad we met and now I know…
That all these thoughts and dreams I’ll sow…
Upon the four winds and the sea
Where everyone believes in me

We humans are a strange race - we say and do things that cause so much hurt and harm to others as well as ourselves yet when we read something like this poem it shows a positive side to life - even when deep in the pits of hell, a person can dream - dream of a better life - better ways of doing things just a better way of being. And dreams bring hope. Even when dreams die, there is still hope and hope like love, is eternal.

This is a good poem and brings me hope today - thank you.

I loved it. Simple and beautiful. You're right, where are we without dreams?? There is not much I can say about this peice, its very self explanatory, you put it all out there. I especiialy loved the line "memories...we want one day". It like how people dream of a beautiful wedding. It is a memory we all spend so much time creating, a memory we plan so hard, and then it happens. It is a memory we sort of "dreamt up". I love love love it. So true.

As you know, I am always writing about hopes and dreams. They are one of my favorite topics and you did a wonderful honor to them here. :+)

A poem I read not that long ago had me thinking of hope as a terrible deceiver. But as you say without hope what is achieved as without hope what incentive is there to try something new. I'm in knots again from thinking too much. Both views have merit right? Ach, i'm getting splinters in my backside from spending too much time on the fence. But I'm glad I read this poem for balancing comment. My instincts tell me we have to hope. But that is probably obvious to 99 percent of the population.
