The Silence of the Fog

The Silence of the Fog

A Poem by Phil Sanders
"

A gloomy morning now .....

"
From the brilliance of sunrise
To foggy morning’s gloom
The world is plunged so quickly
Into a darkened tomb
The tug is slowly drifting
Around the river’s side
So silent in the whiteout
As everything does hide
The world is stuck in limbo
Awaiting nature’s breeze
When finally some wind
Will blow through all the trees
Until then apparitions
Appear through murky light
A seagull on the wing
Still able to take flight
A man appears by magic
Like a curtain has been drawn
As quickly down the towpath
He hurries to keep warm
For fog just hangs around you
With a silent fearful dread
And everyone is rushing
To get home and go to bed

Again the traits your renowed for appear in this peice. Nature and the waters edge. First thing in the morning so much going on. The tug the gulls and birds. The man up early going to work or getting the suplies for the day. The peice is serene and peaceful and calm. Nature has a perfect way of waking us up.

Beautiful poem Phil, after reading this twice I closed my eyes and my mind conjured up the image of the fog hiding the world from ones eyes...... I love your descritpive lines they always make it easy for me to image being there..... and I just thought to look at your accompanying photo, it's as beautiful as your poem. :))
