This Green and Pleasant Land

This Green and Pleasant Land

A Poem by Phil Sanders
"

England in all its glory ...

"
Rolling hills and valleys green
What lovely places to have seen
Amongst the wondrous countryside
With winding roads and rivers wide
And as the morning sun shines bright
The land receives a lustrous light
Awakening the trees and streams
So every colour breathes and gleams
The mountain tops with snow so white
Such a glowing wondrous sight
And through the fields of corn and wheat
The rural vision of a street
Swaying on the summer breeze
Wind is drifting through the trees
Mountain water crisp and clear
Always sparkles every year
Even when cold winters blast
Freezes over parts so fast
Then when springtime reappears
And the snow just disappears
Vibrant life is born once more
Bluebells .. lilies … carpet floors
Trees again will lose their strife
Britain’s beauty springs to life
Inspiring Constable to frame
Giving rise to such acclaim
Turner too saw golden skies
Reflecting all seen in his eyes
Like the artist’s loving hand
Showing such a pleasant land

Through writers such as yourself I have fallen in love with the lands you call home. I hope one day to cross the pond and bask in the beauty of the English countryside. In the meantime I'll continiue to look forward to the imagery you bring to the Writer's Cafe.

The imagery you used really painted a picture in my head that made me want to visit England, being that I have never been. Wonderful read....

ah
great write, i really really loved how u painted that picture in my head... i would suggest however that you might want to look at putting punctuation in there and the only reason i say that is because i had to start over at a couple different lines when i just kept reading... but like i said, it is a great write, thanx for asking me to read

Beautiful words , they flowed so smoothly taking me on a journey through the english countryside, I love bluebells and i was able to see them on the forest floor like a blue carpet, wonderful work, simply the best.

Brilliant as always!!!!

I love the pic, is it one of yours? It's fabulous!

Your words took me inside the photograph and allowed me to visit ... it really doesn't get much better than that, amazing. Thank you for the journey!!

Beautiful job. It reads sweetly from start to finish with the ryhming scheme working well. And I could feel spring a stirring ydy and today, though it is a bit early and we may yet have a foot of now. But the hedge sparrows and song thrushes were tinkling away as I left my house this morning to come to work. It is great to read British pastoral poetry. Maybe if I can ever escape city life I will start writing about curlews and dippers!

Awesome poem here Phil. Very discriptive good use of words and great flow. I enjoyed where you have taken the reader through the fields and the streams where nature and natural beauty sparkles and gleams. My favourite lines of this poem are The mountain tops with snow so white , such a glowing wondrous sight,
And through the fields of corn and wheat, The rural vision of the street. This is a quality peice in my view this is your best poem so far
