Keeping My Demons A Secret

This poem was inspired when I was reading The Devil in the White City, it mentioned a writer who put flames to something they wrote

I got all these notebooks with my writing material

It dates all the way back to 2002

Each idea was crafted from my mind and soul

I shared so much that I can no longer feel

That's why I'm burning these notebooks

And erasing the demons off my back

No need to worry about feeling empty anymore

Once these pages are ashes I'll have it all back

Watching my words burn

Each line that catches fire

Is another feeling I get back

It's so good to feel again

I've learned my lesson 

I don't need to turn my pain into words

Once it's on paper all eyes will see

So from now on I'm keeping my demons a secret
