Resting Place

Resting Place

A Poem by brucethemaster

Your resting place is under dirt and grass
And I sit here on my living a*s
One I watched suffer until the last breath
The other never got to live and only met death

Each one meant more to me than I could explain
Each loss filled me with pain
Every day without them, I can only count the days
I wish they could've stayed

Every breath they don't take
Is a breath I wish I could give
Just to hear a heartbeat at least one more time
What I would give to tell them about my love for them

It hurts to know this is only a dream
And in that dream is this wish I make
But reality bares its teeth
They're gone and I only have the memories to keep.
