Stir of Echo

Stir of Echo

A Poem by Bruce

frail bird spread your wings

fly into the sun bright and shining

as your lungs give way

with each dying breath

a cacophony of howls

drifting echo

pierce thine ear

like countless needles

pricking your face

as the merciless cold

leaves you with nary a thought

save the grim future

and its freezing grasp

upon your maiden head

that burns for me still

despite all intimation

of

irreconcilable difference

you may seek solace

in the arms of another

but I shall haunt your dreams

as your feathers burn

and your stomach churns

and aches constantly

for what may have been
