Sweet Honeysuckle

Sweet Honeysuckle

A Poem by brownie
"

On a full moon's night, the meadows bloom.

"

When the sun’s gone down

And pa’s put the cows in,

Dinner still sitting in my stomach,

I lay there beside the barn,

Watching the sky.

Watching as comets soar past,

Seeing would-be-U.F.O.’S cruise by,

Taking in the luminescent glow of the moon.

The sweet smell of honeysuckle drifts by my nose,

And I can tell I’m going to be picking corn in the fields tomorrow.

The rainy season has come and past,

And the crops need tendin’.

Dinner was good last night,

And as I lay there on the cool night grass,

I wait for the next full moon

Among the fields of blood.

The title caught my attention. As a child I used to pick honeysuckle flowers. Sucking the honey out and placing the flower in my hair.
Through your words I felt as though I too was laying back upon the straw staring upon the moon. I could hear the animals below as I made up stories in my head. Enjoyed the experience...

I think its a good piece just a relaxing kind of poetry for people like me to chill out from work. I liked it.
