First FlightA Poem by BrooklynWhen the tight knots turn to loose strings, The bird learns to flap his wings Taking to the sky for the first time. Swooping and gliding The air bending to his will. Forgetting the questions That are sill unanswerable. The flapping of the bird’s wings Carry it away from the memory of its sins. And the steady rhythm Chases away the conflict within. It forgets the anger and heartbreak That on the ground, It must face. Now it has the power to fly away Should it come back? Should it leave or stay? But for now, It just fly’s. It forgets the lies. It will have to land one day But the world is full of new possibility © 2012 BrooklynReviews
