Gone

Gone

A Poem by Brooklyn

There one day

Gone the next

Snatched away

From my grasp

Held on tightly

Then began to slide

Before I could catch you

Along came the tide

You are gone

This I must face

There was no chance

Of winning to Fate

This we knew

All along

But in our foolishness

We thought we were strong

Strong enough to bear

Each other’s weight

But you turned and ran

Before the chase

Leaving me alone

The others have gone

One by one

They walked into the fog

That is my memory

And you join them

Because you were tricked

Tricked into security

Maybe by Fate

Maybe by me

But you chose to believe

Destiny

Is it possible

That I can see

The tears in your eyes

As you leave me?

Is it possible

That you know

That you were deceived

And willingly you go?

You said you’d always be there

You gave me false hope

Liar! Liar!

What happened to forever?

So now you are gone

But not gone completely

Your silhouette

Will never leave me

Faithful to its promise

It remains even still

Even as Fate

Goes in for the kill

Your hazy outline

And my memories

Is all you leave me

It seems
