the Runner

the Runner

A Poem by Brooklyn

Have you ever known

That it in a minute

It could all be over?

That you could be over?

Have you ever breathed

Your last breath

To breathe again

Because of chance?

Have you ever danced

That perilous chasse

Knowing that your life

Is in the hands of fate?

Have you ever felt the fire

The fire of despair

Consume you completely

And burn you beyond repair?

Have you ever felt the sea

The sea of uncertainty

And questioned whether

To let the tide wash you away?

Have you ever ran

The race for your life?

Each breath takes in less air

You can’t see straight

But you continue running anyway?

I have.

Wow, the emotion, the pace, the hearbeat thudding to footsteps that seems to sound behind you while reading, amazing.
