The Metallic Emotions

A Story by Brokinetic
"

Date between a human man and a robot girl in a distant future.

"

Looking through the brown tinted window from the newly build skyscraper, she saw a triangular shaped car with glittering headlights coming from a distance. Identical to a large headed frog looking to devour every insect in its way. There were no other vehicles around, the sky looking rather empty and sorrow with patches of dark clouds forming sparingly. The two eye soundless monster zapped passed her in a matter of seconds, maybe a few milliseconds. Her eyes then fell on the ever standing City Hall. The sky crapper built with fused carbon-chustinian, named after a Chinese scientist which earned him a place on the podium during the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

A compressed-fusion powered power station in the middle connecting two enormous cylinders containing large cubicles. The bottom one, populated by the myriads of citizens belonging to the base of the “New Age Pyramid of Hierarchy”. While the other half, filled by men and ladies living a lavish life. Built back in 2050, with an enormous violet electronic panel mounted at the top. On the very building, the blinking words and numbers glanced at by busy pedestrians. They serve to apprise the people on the fast moving world, written on it, the date and time of the day. 05/07/2205, 7 pm.

Sitting at the corner table, she turned her head looking at the entrance door of the pub. There she saw him. Wavy dark hair, a strong jawline, and a bit of a rowdy look. She loved how it complimented with her fair complexions. A bad boy in a good boy, she hoped. She smiled shyly. He joined her at the table, parking his buttocks on the micro weighted carbon chair. Always with a smile, she parted her pursed lips.

“Hello, my name is Maya.”

“Hey there you, namesa Dmitri. Let'sa drink something”

He pushed the blue button built at the panel attached to the wall.. A petite green screen appeared, hovering just above the surface of table. The virtual waitress waiting eagerly for their order.

“Vodka for me. Thanksa the Russianse for culture preservation. Whatsa would you want Maya?”

She looked at him with a bare face, and a bit uncertainty.

“Emm, nothing at all.” She said in reply, now without a smile.

Dmitri was indifferent, he had been on dates before. Dates where girls were so nervous and always stuck to their gadgets. Nervousness which came from break down of ever declining social intelligence of the human population. Centuries and centuries of technology development brought unlimited pleasures but the adverse consequences were sketched deeper in the roots. The roots of human brain.

“Don'tsa be nervous. I understand yoursa feeling. Thersa no pressure atcha all.”

She looked into his eyes, “ I am not nervous, I can't feel that yet at least, and I can't drink li..quii..id.” her voice softening.

He jerked his body backwards, the carbon chair sliding faultlessly on the smooth floor.

“Whatsa do you mean by you can't feelcha yet, and if yousa can't drink….oh hell...not this one...yourcha Robot!!!”

He was not a happy man, staring at her with a pinch of anger. His eyes piercing into hers, searching for her soul. She had none. There was an ounce of quietness until another weird looking car dashed pass them. This time the roaring sound of the powerful engine breaking the tension . She did not have to say anything. She could sense the next few seconds. She nodded her head, still looking into his dark eyes. The carbon chair slid further away from the table. His body rising and turning away from her. She saw him pacing away, through the very door he came trough moments ago.

A gigantic gold plated hand descended from the ceiling, serving the dry Vodka in a shiny diamond glass. She turned her head towards the window, looking through she could not see any passing vehicle. She saw droplets wetting the Earth, gloomy sky and another day to look forward to.
