Electric Skin

Electric Skin

A Poem by thebrokenwillow

The first drop hits

A little dark spot

On the dry, dusty pavement

Then the second falls and

The air tinged with rain and dirt

Touches a very sun burnt nose

It falls on the flowers

Faces turned up to the non-existent sun

And the picnic at the park

Food laid out and a couple laughing

The wind stirs newly grown grass

The light turning it an unnatural green

Thunder in the distance

Is like electricity dancing on your skin

The first excitement after a long dark winter

Now there are puddles for bare feet

And a reason to stay inside

With a book or an old movie

To wait for the sun

To crawl back into the freshly washed sky

Yawning and stretching it light

Touching everything with a new idea

Bringing it back to life

All over again.
