they don't know what love is

they don't know what love is

A Poem by Osh

I have a girlfriend,
and she makes me unbelievably happy.
And I thought a month ago that I would miserably for a long time.

I'm still working through issues of course, but my God...
She makes it better.
Like I can breathe again
like my chest isn't caving in anymore.

But now I'm scared, because I love a girl.
And I know my family won't accept me for that.
I won't change my mind about her
if I'm not accepted,
but it'll hurt.

Knowing that they can't love me
for who I love.

Her name is Alex
and her laugh is loud and quirky,
she works the graveyard shift at a diner
on the side of the highway,
and her eyes are the most brilliant
silver-blue I have ever seen.

And they are filled with absolute hope.

I don't know how anyone will react,
or how it will effect me,
but for the first time since I can remember...

I'm happy
