MirrorA Poem by Colleen C Dunphy
You think you're not good enough
But you're perfect to me Perfect for me You make my heart happy In a way they no one else does I wish that you could see yourself through my eyes I'm not the only one with a big heart To me, you are amazing The boy you are and the man you will be The light and love that dances in your eyes The sound of your laughter How you care for your friends and family How much their opinions matter to you You just want to be loved But yet... You say you're not ready... And though it breaks my heart I get it You're scared Scared of something real Of something magical Of this amazing thing that we could have And if you never give us a chance you'll never screw it up But you screw it up by never giving us a chance What is ready? What does it mean to be ready? You can't wrap your head around Love A truly overwhelming unconditional love A woman that would give you everything and only asks for one thing in return That chance to be your one and only The chance to give it all to you As you say, 'we sexy as f**k' Instead we both suffer Missing each other This forced wall between us The magnets fighting to return To each other As I fight to stay You fight to build the wall higher To "protect me" But you're really protecting yourself From a chance at love From something that could be amazing It doesn't protect me from the pain It makes it hurt more Love isn't pain it is not being loved back It is love rejected that is pain This is what hurts And nothing can protect from that © 2016 Colleen C Dunphy |
