Going GreenA Poem by -!katie!-I wrote this for a gifted program competition at my school, and I was very happy with it. hope you enjoy!
A trendy new pop culture on the horizon
Obsession, recession, confession
Reduce, recycle, reuse
Hippie is the new chic
Bags with eco friendly sayings
Green is the new black
Shipped thousands of miles
Sold to girls
Who nonchalantly throw their
Aluminum pop can in the garbage
Without another thought
Worried mothers
Lounging in their thirsty SUV’s
Complain on their pricey cell phones
That their sons are sent off to fight the oil war
Solar, Wind, Ethanol
Alternative fuels are not good enough
For such a powerful nation
America, the not-so-beautiful
Oxygen will soon be the hottest commodity
But we are not concerned
As long as we have our expensive unnecessary
Now Now Now
Going green
A saving grace or an empty promise?
